Bassins de la Ravine Saint Gilles

Ravine Saint Gilles

Aujourd'hui départ vers 8:30, direction la Ravine Saint Gilles pour voir les différents bassins qui s'y trouvent. Les plus connus sont au nombre de 3 et officiellement interdit d'accès. 

Nous avons découvert qu'il y en avait en réalité 2 de plus, un tout en haut de la Ravine: Le bassin bleu que nous avons été voir ce matin en premier, au départ du village artisanal de l'Eperon, après 5 minutes de descente. Le problème est que la cascade est à sec et le bassin un peu vert. Pas super joli. 

Today we started around 8:30, direction "Ravine Saint Gilles" to see the different waterplaces. There 3 really known ones, but officially not accessible anymore.

We found out in the travelling book that there are 2 more, one on top of the 3 known ones: Bassin Bleu, that we went to see first this morning. The way is short, only 5 minutes walking down, at the "Eperon" village. The problem was that the waterfall is dry, and the waterplace a little bit green, so not so nice.

 

 Ensuite direction les 3 plus connus. J'avais dit en partant: on fera le bassin des Aigrettes et des Comorans, pas le bassin malheur, car l'accès est un peu plus difficile.

Mais je pense que Martin a fait exprès de se tromper au premier carrefour, résultat, direction Bassin Malheur. Le chemin commence très sympa, à plat le long d'une canalisation. Ca se complique quand les tunnels arrivent, ou il faudrait marcher dans l'eau et que Martin décide de contourner les tunnels: résultat, descente sur les fesses et escalade d'un petit mur pour remonter sur la canalisation. Mon vertige a aussi été mis à rude épreuve par moment, et au bout du coup, j'ai quand même déchaussé les chaussures et fait une partie du chemin dans la canalisation, dans une eau assez fraiche. Mais bon, le résultat était sympa: un joli bassin avec une petite plage.:)

Then we went direction the 3 known ones. I said this morning that we will go to the Bassin Aigrettes and Comorans, but not the Bassin Malheur, as this one is a little bit more complicated to access.

But I think that Martin took by intention the wrong way when we started to walk. So direction Bassin Malheur. The way starts nicely, flat, beside the water canal. But it was getting complicated when Martin decided to go around the tunnel : results, a part of the way down on the ass, and a wall to climb in order to get back to the water canal. My vertigo was also not so good today, as the way was sometimes small and with a lot of nothing on one side. So at the end I anyway decided to take away my shoes and walk in the cold water directly in the canal. But the result was nice: a nice waterplace with a small beach. :)

Après une petite pause photo et détente (l'eau était pour nous trop froide pour se baigner.), on repart dans l'autre sens, cette fois en passant par les tunnels, et au bout du chemin, on bifurque à gauche pour descendre au bassin des Aigrettes, plus facile d'accès. Magnifique, avec cascade. 

After a small photo break (the water was too cold for us to go to swimm), we walked back, this time through the tunnels, and at the end of the way we turned left to walk down to the Bassin des Aigrettes. This one is easier to access. Really nice with its waterfall.

Vu l'heure tardive (12:30), on préfère partir déjeuner au DCP à Saint-Gilles-les-Bains, un bon poisson tout frais pêché. Et nous ferons les 2 autres bassins un autre jour.

Après le déjeuner, on va changer notre voiture de location, car nous avions un petit problème de freins, et vu les routes ici, il vaut mieux pouvoir freiner dans les descente.

When we saw the time (12:30), we decided to walk back to the car and go to lunch a nice fresh fish at the restaurant DCP in Saind-Gilles-Les-Bains. We will do the 2 other waterplaces an other day.

After lunch, we had to go to exchange our car, as we had some problems with the brakes. And on this island, it is better if you can brake when you drive on some streets.

En remontant à la chambre, on voulait faire le bassin maïs que apparemment personne ne connait ici, malheureusement le chemin est fermé pour travaux, on y retournera demain matin.

Donc retour à la chambre vers 15:30 et on va profiter du Spa avant de diner avec nos hôtes ce soir.On est préparés mentalement pour la dégustation de rhums arrangés.

By driving back to the room, we wanted to go to see the fifth waterplace, which nobody knows on the island, but the way was closed for work. So we will go back to this one tomorrow morning.

So we came back to the room around 15:30 and enjoyed the spa for the last time: we will change the bed and breakfast tomorrow. Tonight we are again dining with the other customers and the host. We are already prepared for the rhum tasting...
